Shogi (Japanese chess) vs the computer
Play standard shogi with full rules. Illegal moves such as double pawns and pawn-drop mate are prevented, and legal moves are highlighted. Pieces can be shown as kanji or as English letters.
How to play
- Sente and Gote alternate moves; checkmate the enemy king to win.
- Each piece moves differently. Tap a piece to see where it can go.
- Captured pieces go to your hand and can be dropped on any empty square later.
- Entering the enemy camp (last 3 ranks) lets a piece promote and become stronger.
- Illegal: two unpromoted pawns in one file, and mating with a pawn drop.
- The same position 4 times is a draw (sennichite).
